Salary: $61,068.80 - $86,361.60 Per Year

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This is professional services and scientific work of a supervisory nature in protecting the environment including program management and performing complex technical evaluations. This position is responsible for performing the duties of a compliance inspector and supervising one compliance inspector position. The specific duties include determining compliance with licenses issued under the Maine Pollutant Discharge Elimination System and Waste Discharge License programs. This position would be responsible for conducting compliance inspections, participating as a presenter at various conferences and meetings, representing the NMRO office compliance staff at management meetings, managing progress with work plans, and participating in planning and development meetings.

Minimum QualificationsAn eight (8) year combination of education and/or experience in environmental science or related area which includes at least two (2) years of supervisory or program management/administration experience. Qualifying education must include at least 15 credit hours of science or engineering coursework.

Preferred QualificationsExperience/knowledge of the design and operations of wastewater treatment facilities.Knowledge of water quality laws and regulations.Knowledge of water pollution issues and science.Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and manage multiple projects.Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Experience in technical writing.Demonstrated ability to collaborate across a wide range of stakeholders to achieve a common goal.Experience using a database to manage and review regulatory compliance data.Experience using electronic inspection software.BenefitsWork-Life Balance – Rest is essential.
