Placements24 is seeking a Senior Renewable Energy Analyst in Baltimore, MD, to tackle challenges in integrating renewable energy into the power grid. The role requires a Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field and at least 7 years of experience in energy, focusing on renewable technologies and grid operations. Our client, a forward-thinking energy company committed to advancing sustainable energy solutions, is seeking a highly analytical Senior Renewable Energy Analyst to join their team in Baltimore, Maryland, US . This pivotal role will focus on the complex challenges and opportunities associated with integrating renewable energy sources into the existing power grid. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in energy systems, quantitative analysis, and a deep understanding of grid operations, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks affecting renewable energy development.
Responsibilities:
Conduct in-depth analysis of renewable energy technologies (solar, wind, battery storage) and their impact on grid stability and reliability. Develop sophisticated models to forecast renewable energy generation, grid congestion, and pricing impacts. Evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of interconnecting new renewable energy projects to the transmission and distribution grid. Analyze regulatory policies, market rules, and incentive programs affecting renewable energy deployment. Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and recommendations for internal stakeholders and external clients. Collaborate with engineering, operations, and business development teams to support strategic decision-making. Identify opportunities for grid modernization and enhancements to facilitate higher penetrations of renewable energy. Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in the renewable energy and power systems sectors. Mentor junior analysts and contribute to the team's technical expertise. Participate in industry conferences and contribute to research initiatives. Qualifications:
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Economics, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in the energy sector, with a specialization in renewable energy and grid integration. Expertise in power system modeling, simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory), and statistical analysis tools (e.g., R, Python). Strong understanding of grid operations, market mechanisms (e.g., ISO/RTO), and transmission planning. Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, including their performance characteristics and integration challenges. Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences. Experience with policy analysis and regulatory environments is highly desirable. Strong project management skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
