This role involves developing financial models for alternative power initiatives, overseeing financial planning and analysis for energy expenses, and collaborating with teams on energy procurement and datacenter operations. Key responsibilities include forecasting, budgeting, and assessing the financial implications of renewable energy agreements. Candidates should have over 8 years of experience in financial planning, preferably in the energy or datacenter sectors.
Job Description

As the energy landscape transforms with initiatives like onsite generation, renewable Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), battery storage, and hedging strategies, this position is vital in developing models for these innovative commercial arrangements and assessing their financial implications for OCI's leadership team. You will oversee comprehensive financial planning, analysis, and support related to alternative power and energy expenses for OCI's global datacenter operations. This includes modeling, forecasting, and partnering with teams focused on energy procurement, datacenter operations, and contract negotiations. A deep understanding of electricity markets and the impact of power delivery infrastructure on costs is essential.

Responsibilities

Financial Planning: Lead forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning for OCI's various business units

Own the energy cost projections for alternative power across all OCI regions, ensuring timely and accurate financial forecasting, while proactively addressing any inaccuracies. Create and maintain financial models for onsite energy solutions, such as gas turbine installations, comparing self-generation against grid costs. Assess fixed-price and alternative power agreements, including long-term power purchase contracts and their financial ramifications. Establish unit economics ($/MWh, $/kW) segmented by region, facility, and energy source to drive decisions on capacity planning and site selection. Monitor wholesale electricity market trends, especially in ERCOT and relevant ISOs, and incorporate findings into forecasting and risk evaluations. Support major deal financial modeling, particularly for expansive campus developments and phased capacity increases. Collaborate with upstream teams to verify assumptions and improve data integrity in financial planning. Generate scenario analyses for leadership to clearly display financial implications of potential power rate changes, generation asset performance, and interconnection delays. Enhance existing reporting and forecasting mechanisms to boost efficiency and accuracy. Develop comparatives for power sourcing options, presenting informed decision-making support for the leadership on cost, risk, and flexibility. Evaluate the financial performance of renewable energy procurement options like PPAs, RECs, and carbon reduction strategies as OCI commits to sustainability goals. Analyze forward pricing trends across key markets, translating these insights into actionable recommendations for energy procurement. Construct new energy cost models for prospective regions, forecasting power expenses by examining local tariff structures and market conditions. Assess the economics of battery energy storage systems (BESS), focusing on charge/discharge optimizations and their integration with renewable generating assets. Reporting: Prepare comprehensive financial analyses for stakeholders and oversee reporting schedules. Quarter-end Close: Engage in quarter-end close procedures and work alongside Finance, Operations, and Business teams. Preferred Skills and Experience:

8+ years in financial planning and analysis, strategic finance, or energy finance, preferably within the datacenter, cloud, or utility sectors. BA/BS in Accounting or Finance; CPA or MBA is desirable. Exceptional financial modeling abilities and experience in managing uncertainty within financial frameworks. Strong capability to simplify complex technical information into actionable financial strategies for executive leadership. A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn in an evolving industry focused on renewable energy and energy efficiency. Excellent communication skills, capable of respectfully challenging assumptions and advocating for precise forecasting. Nice to Have:

Familiarity with wholesale market operations such as ERCOT, PJM, or MISO. Knowledge of onsite energy generation technologies. Understanding of energy consumption economics, particularly related to cooling infrastructure. Experience with renewable energy agreement structures. Ability to analyze energy forward curves and develop hedging strategies. #LI-KNC2
