AtkinsRealis is seeking qualified and experienced personnel in the Toronto Office to carry out Water Resources studies for Roads, Bridges and Municipal Engineering group.
Your role
• Support both simple and complex studies, modeling, and design tasks on a broad range of water resources infrastructure projects, conceptual design, preliminary and detailed design, construction, and operational support.
• Contribute to projects including master drainage plans, floodplain mapping, highway drainage design, erosion assessments, drainage/SWM infrastructure planning, and stormwater retrofit flood studies.
• Collaborate effectively with intermediate and senior engineers, hydrologic/hydraulic modelers, and project leads to ensure project goals are met and priorities are clearly defined.
• Assist in hydrologic/hydraulic modeling of stormwater runoff and floodplains, including the design and assessment of SWM controls, flood mitigation strategies, culverts, storm sewers, road/highway drainage systems, and low impact development (LID) features.
• Participate in multidisciplinary projects across water, transportation, environmental, and community development sectors.
• Conduct field investigations to verify existing SWM infrastructure and surface drainage patterns.
• Analyze, interpret, and present modeling results in technical reports, design briefs, and presentations.
• Support the preparation of stormwater master plans, design briefs, and related technical documentation.
• Contribute to the development of conceptual and detailed design drawings using CAD software.
About you
• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Water Resources, or Environmental Engineering from an accredited university, ideally with a specialization in Water Resources or Environmental sub-discipline.
• Registration as an Engineering Intern (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), or eligibility to register in Canada.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in water resources engineering.
• Solid understanding of water resource engineering principles, hydrology, and hydraulics.
• Strong commitment to client satisfaction and producing high-quality deliverables.
• Familiarity with hydraulic/hydrologic modeling tools such as PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, Global Mapper, AutoCAD, and/or Civil 3D.
• Basic experience in data analysis, visualization of modeling results, and effective communication of technical findings.
• Exposure to floodplain analysis and erosion protection methods.
• Understanding of natural channel design and fluvial geomorphology.
• Knowledge of Ontario's stormwater management guidelines and regulations; experience with linear infrastructure design is considered an asset.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities efficiently.
• Strong technical writing skills (e.g., reports, proposals).

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $80,000 - $110,000 annually (Only Applicable to Ontario). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
