Waste Reduction Group Inc. is hiring a Waste Audit Technician in Sharon, ON, Canada. The role involves conducting waste audits, sorting waste, and maximizing recycling efforts for clients. Candidates should have experience in waste auditing and proficiency in MS Office. The position requires access to a vehicle for travel to various sites in the region. The starting wage is $18 per hour, with benefits after six months.

This position is an opportunity to participate in a unique and detailed study which will reveal how wasteful people are and how much recycling our residents put into the garbage. For 20 years, our company has solved our clients’ challenging waste management problems with creative approaches to waste reduction and recycling. Our team is currently in search for several new waste audit technicians – individuals eager to make an impact, drive results and be part of our ambitious team! This is where you come in. As a Waste Audit Technician, you will be expected to: * Work in the field by conducting waste audits for The Regional Municipality of York and other clients * Have access to a vehicle to get to and from the site each day * Occasionally travel to projects throughout the GTA and Ontario as needed This includes: * Receiving samples of waste from transfer station operators * Manually sorting waste into many different categories * Weighing categories and inputting values into the database * Following strict safety protocols including the use of PPE * Additional support for report writing as needed Your work will play a crucial role in helping our clients maximize their recycling potential. The location of the work job is primarily at: * York Region Waste Management Centre (YRWMC) Located at 100 Garfield Wright Boulevard, East Gwillimbury An infrequent portion of the work is located at: * Earl Turcott Waste Management Centre (ETWMC), located at 300 Rodick Road, Markham Qualifications Employee needs to meet the following criteria below. * Experience conducting audits for commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors is an asset * Basic to intermediate proficiency with MS Office programs including Excel, Outlook, and Word * You must have your own transportation and a valid G driver’s license Eco Canada Internship This position is partnered with Eco Canada Employment program which have been connecting environmental employers and skilled junior talent through employment programs that offer wage subsidies to drive valuable on-the-job work experience and essential skills training. Requirements for Candidates: * Intend to lead an environmental career related to science, technology, engineering, or mathematics * 30 years of age of younger * Canadian citizen, landed immigrant, or refugee status. * Eligible to work in Canada * Graduated from a post-secondary institution * Able to work in a full-time, permanent position within the next 2 months * Unemployed or underemployed * Have not participated previously in a federal youth employment or education program * Not currently employed as a paid employee at the host organization * Not a family member of the host organizations directors or senior officers How to Apply Our online application will give you the option to apply to this role as a complete person – not just a resume.
