National Grid is seeking a U.S. Group Safety Specialist for its Group Safety, Health and Wellbeing team, based in New England offices with a hybrid work policy. National Grid is hiring a U.S. Group Safety Specialist for our Group Safety, Health and Wellbeing team . This position can be located in any New England office (Boston, Northborough, Waltham and Worcester), following a hybrid working policy (work from home, in-office, and field).
Job Purpose
Join our Group Safety, Health and Wellbeing team at National Grid, where you will play a critical role in shaping the safety strategy for over 30,000 employees. As the U.S. Group Safety Specialist, you will be instrumental in contributing to the implementation and development of comprehensive Group-wide safety governance standards, policies, and assurance frameworks.
In this role, you will support the U.S. Safety Manager and collaborate with UK counterparts ensuring compliance with both US and UK regulations and industry best practices. This role will assist with providing strategic guidance and technical support to safety teams across diverse business units, fostering a robust safety culture. This role will also serve as a process safety/gas or electrical technical expert.
Key Accountabilities
• Support Safety Teams: Provide guidance to business unit safety teams on effective safety management practices.
• Develop Resources: Create user-friendly guidance materials and best practice frameworks.
• Conduct Audits and Inspections: Participate in audits of safety programs and provide feedback for improvement.
• Monitor Safety Indicators: Track and analyze safety performance indicators to identify trends.
• Assist with Training: Support the development and delivery of safety training programs.
• Participate in Incident Investigations: Assist in gathering information and implementing lessons learned.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work with multiple departments to promote a cohesive safety culture.
• Engage in Industry Discussions: Represent National Grid in industry groups to enhance safety standards.
Qualifications
• Education: Demonstrated knowledge of Health and Safety in a high-risk industry. Knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations is preferred.
• Experience: Technical experience in Process Safety or Electrical Safety, knowledge of safety regulations and procedures, experience in high-risk environments is beneficial.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent communication, and proficiency with Microsoft programs.
• Travel: Willingness to travel locally (30%) and to the UK approximately twice a year.

Salary
$105k - $115k a year in Waltham, Northboro, Boston or Worcester
