Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:
Environmental Design Group is seeking a Transportation Technical Lead to plan and coordinate projects, serve as a senior technical advisor on projects of particular complexity, assist the project manager, and serve as the technical lead and main point of contact with clients, as needed. Projects may include trails, roadways, sidewalks, green and complete streets, and active transportation projects for ODOT, LPA, and Non-LPA clients throughout the state of Ohio.
As a Technical Lead at Environmental Design Group, you will
• Train, lead and mentor the company’s planning, design, engineering technical, and construction associates.
• Present as the subject matter expert for specialized areas.
• Provide oversight related to the scope, schedule, and budget for assessment, planning, design, and capital improvement projects.
• Perform and administer complex planning, design, and engineering work – requiring exceptional professional training and experience.
• Perform long-term budget and capacity planning.
• Develop, implement, and maintain planning, design, and engineering standards, including standard specifications and drawings.
• Identify project risks and monitor/mitigate risk throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate and regularly communicate with the Project Manager and other project staff on the status of work, deliverables, schedule, and budgets.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with prospective and existing clients.
• Participate in client events, tradeshows, and industry associations.
• Prepare technical white papers for industry associations.
• Adhere to all quality and safety protocols.
• Participate in public meetings and deliver presentations as requested.
• Carry out any other responsibilities as assigned for the organization’s best interest.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Planning, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience
• Experience in trail and/or multi-modal transportation, or the motivation to learn this specialty, is required
• Understanding of plan production, design grade, task management, schedule, and budget management
• Willingness to train, mentor, and lead individuals within the department
• PE, PLA/RLA, AICP, or other relevant certifications are preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CAD, and other industry-based software
• Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
• Advanced analytical and creative thinking skills
• Advanced leadership and organizational skills within a team environment
• Advanced presentation skills and comfort working with clients
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position that has the availability to work hybrid.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day.
• Must have a valid driver's license and possess a driving record that will enable the employee to be insurable under the Companys standard vehicle insurance and general comprehensive liability insurance without additional costs to the Company.
Supervisor Responsibility
This position will not have direct reports but will be expected to act as a mentor, coach, and train newer associates as appropriate. Environmental Design Group is a teaching organization that believes in the growth of all individuals within the company.
