Job Description

The Nature Conservancy and Maine Environmental Education Association are offering two full-time residency positions for early career professionals from underrepresented backgrounds in conservation. The roles, based in Brunswick, ME, involve working with both organizations over two years, starting June 10, 2024. Residents will engage in climate adaptation initiatives and community outreach, with opportunities for remote work as needed and some required travel.
The Maine Environmental Education Association and The Nature Conservancy in Maine (TNC Maine) are collaborating on this two-year residency position designed for residents to gain relevant experience and the unique professional experience of working both within a smaller grassroots nonprofit network (MEEA) and within a large environmental/conservation nonprofit (TNC Maine).

WHAT? Two full-time (36-40 hrs/wk) salaried two-year positions at $50,000 per year - Residents work with both the Maine Environmental Education Association and The Nature Conservancy in Maine.

WHO? Early career professionals who self-identify as coming from a background underrepresented in conservation, environmental and climate movements.

WHEN? Start date is June 10, 2024 and the residency runs two years through June 2026.

WHERE? This is a primarily in-person position at TNC Maine’s office based in Brunswick, ME with opportunity for remote work as needed. MEEA also has office space in Portland that residents can use. There will also be periodic travel required.

Climate Resident: The Climate Resident will work closely with TNC Maine’s Climate Adaptation Team to support the chapter’s climate adaptation initiatives, including Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) policy and finance, project implementation, community resilience, and equitable adaptation.

Community Initiatives Resident: The Community Initiatives Resident will work with the Community Program Director to build connections with communities with the goal of building relationships, rapport, and reducing barriers to access to outdoor spaces.
