Job Description

The University of Virginia seeks a Sustainability Student Videographer to create content and promote sustainability initiatives. Responsibilities include capturing photos/videos, supporting event planning, and digital communications. Candidates must be current UVA undergraduates with strong communication and editing skills. The position is part-time (8-12 hours per week) with a pay of $15/hour. Applications are due by March 30, 2026, for a start date of September 1, 2026.
The UVA Office for Sustainability is looking for a creative and passionate creator to work with our Associate Manager of Communications to help us tell the story of UVA Sustainability. This position involves content creation, strategic communications, and event promotion for the fall semester, with the potential for continued involvement for the remainder of the academic year.

Tasks:
• Capture photos and videos of the people and places advancing sustainability at UVA.
• Create content for Reels, YouTube shorts on various topics such as recycling right, behind the scenes, and other sustainability-related topics.
• Support Infrastructure Month planning, execution, and promotion.
• Support role in digital and print communications for UVA Sustainability.
• Support role in website content creation.

Skills:
• Storytelling.
• Strong written, oral, and visual communication skills are a must.
• Excellent attention to detail, including strong editing skills.
• Interpersonal skills for interviewing and collaborative work.
• Content creation and editing (using Canva, Instagram Reels, iMovie.)
• Understanding of UVA, Office for Sustainability branding and accessibility standards.
• Strong graphic design skills.

Compensation is $15/hour.

Education: Current undergrad UVA student
