What You'll Do:

The Sustainability Specialist in Lubrizol Life Science (LLS) is responsible for driving the integration of sustainable practices including supplier participation, traceability data and collaborative initiatives across functional areas for our nature-based products and ingredients. This role involves developing and executing long-term strategies and driving change internally to meet customer sustainability needs. A successful candidate will have experience working collaboratively with other functions, including corporate procurement, supply chain, marketing, and product management. The product sustainability specialist will collaborate and assist global and regional product and business management in implementing best practices, certifications and sustainability initiatives to meet customer needs for ingredient traceability and transparency in supply chain. This role will help LLS develop the infrastructure and process to ensure ingredient traceability including management of confidentiality and supplier contractual obligations in addressing requests from customers. This position will serve as a key partner to understand the market trends around sustainability and traceability and develop effective strategies that differentiates us from competitors.

What We're Looking For:
• Participate and support execution of LLS sustainability strategy for nature-based product portfolio
• Monitoring and execution of mapping of feedstocks and sourcing knowledge for natural feedstocks
• Implement best practices, procedures & systems to enhance sustainability data collection and data integrity
• Strategically work with corporate supply chain function on data assimilation/reporting process to meet the LLS needs for traceability and reporting
• Work with innovation team on proactive assessment of supply chain sustainability credentials (biodiversity, deforestation free, traceability etc.).
• Lead and manage third party certifications (RSPO, COSMOS, NaTrue, etc.).
• Serve as primary contact for certifications, traceability and ingredient sustainability information.
• Lead and develop strategies for disclosure and transparency initiatives driven by third party certification agencies, governments & key customers
• Assess and recommend collaborative initiatives with NGO (s) to develop sustainable sourcing programs with positive impact on local communities and environment
• Understand sustainability attributes of LLS products including their impact on finished products.

Skills That Make a Difference:
• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Engineering, or related science discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in sustainability, regulatory, and/or sourcing/traceability preferred.
• Experience in botanicals, feedstocks for biopolymers, fermentation derived ingredients for beauty/food industry is a plus
• Third party certifications for sustainable sourcing is preferred.
• Understanding and willingness to learn about global sustainability trends/requirements for products in beauty, personal care sector related to traceability and transparency initiatives, biodiversity regulations etc.
• Strong communication skills and demonstrate influence with internal and external groups.
