Description

The Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging (MSP) Operations organization oversees the manufacturing of high-quality packaging and robotics systems and gets the right materials to the right place at the right time to enable our automated solutions. It's a fast-paced operation that works cross-functionally with teams across Amazon globally, and is driven by data and performance indicators. We are seeking a talented and motivated Manufacturing Test Development Engineer with a proven track record of implementing best in class test techniques and processes within a complex manufacturing environment. This role will report to the Technical Operations team. You will be responsible for developing or implementing test strategies and solutions for new products, with a focus on automation, cycle time reduction, and improving product quality. You will actively work with engineering, manufacturing partners, junior test engineers, and external vendors to deliver and support the highest quality products with the lowest cost.

Key job responsibilities

Actively support and foster a culture of inclusion.

Lead development of electrical test strategy, equipment and respective test programming, to be used for acceptance testing of industrial automation, robotic systems and sub systems.

Specify Design for Test requirements and drive with Engineering and ODM partners.

Specify and guide manufacturing test development with external vendors.

Document test procedures, test specifications, and acceptance criteria for new and existing products.

Lead the deployment of testing solutions into partner manufacturers of our industrial automation solutions.

Work with suppliers to support deployed product and respective tests.

Work with field deployment sites to understand defect feedback and provide containment actions and improvements in the test processes.

Propose design changes that will enhance product manufacturability, testability and coverage.

Evaluate and approve product electrical Engineering Changes Orders (ECOs).

Willing to "roll up sleeves and do what needs to get done" in a small specialized team environment.

Up to 30% travel required.

Basic Qualifications
• BSEE or equivalent required.
• 10+ years related work experience, in environments that are fast paced and require multitasking.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of state-of-the-art test equipment, test fixture design, ATE equipment.
• Demonstrated expertise with test strategy development and implementation for industrial automation solutions.
• Strong software tools experience to develop test cases using test equipment and custom solutions to control DUT.
• Bench-top electrical debug tool experience as well as electrical design of test circuitry.
• Experience in designing or specifying electrical test interfaces for functionally testing electrical sub-assemblies.
• Extensive cross functional support of multiple skill sets. (i.e. wear many hats).
• Demonstrated experience working with outsource manufacturing partners

Preferred Qualifications
• Electrical Engineering or Computer Science Master's degree.
• 15+ years experience
• Experience working on automated packaging systems
• Experience with industrial controls inclusive of PLCs, Vision systems, conveyance, robotics, motors\drivers, pneumatics, sensors, and other controls systems.
• Experience with products with time of flight (TOF), stereo cameras, and other sensor systems test.
• PLC programming or ability to specify testing systems using motion actuated stimulus
• Experience debugging circuits to the component level.
• RF experience in respect to Wi-Fi, LTE, and GPS radio testing.
• Ladder Logic, C#, Python, NI TestStand, and\or LabVIEW experience.
• Linux based product OS testing and control.
• Strong acumen with data analysis tools like Minitab or JMP
