About the position

The AES Operations team is seeking a Solar Technician I to cover assigned Operations and Maintenance (O&M) activities associated with solar photovoltaic (PV) sites and substations linked to utility-scale Solar Energy Plants located in Oak Ridge, LA. This role is crucial in ensuring that AES Clean Energy operates its portfolio to standards that exceed industry best practices. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to build, train, and lead other field personnel. As AES Clean Energy continues to grow and establish itself as a leading Independent Power Producer (IPP) in the renewable energy sector, this position offers an unparalleled opportunity for professional growth and development. In this role, the Solar Technician I will be responsible for performing corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance and operations for various equipment, including but not limited to SunGrow 3150, SunGrow 3600, and ATI Trackers V2, V2.5, V3. The technician will also be involved in high, medium, and low voltage switching, preparing and implementing switching and clearance orders, and ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with environmental and safety requirements. The technician will work both independently and as part of work crews, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the solar energy operations. The position requires a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical fundamentals, as well as the ability to synthesize complex analyses and approach new challenges creatively. The technician will be expected to maintain a current level of professional knowledge, focus on personal growth and development, and establish positive working relationships with colleagues and leaders. Responsibilities
• Responsible for assigned O&M activities associated with the solar PV sites and substations associated with utility-scale Solar Energy Plants.

• Performs corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance and operations for equipment including SunGrow 3150, SunGrow 3600, and ATI Trackers V2, V2.5, V3.

• Conducts high, medium, and low voltage switching.
,
• Prepares and implements switching and clearance orders.
,
• Ensures work is performed in accordance with Environmental and Safety requirements.
,
• Performs technical and administrative duties associated with operating and maintaining a power facility.

• Works independently and/or in work crews.

Requirements
• Possess a 2-year technical degree or equivalent Journeyman qualifications.

• Three (3) or more years' experience as a PV O&M solar technician.
,
• Five (5) or more years' experience in a power plant and one (1) or more years' experience in PV Solar O&M or construction.
,
• Knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals such as electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid-state theory application.
,
• Basic knowledge of operational characteristics of equipment and associated control devices installed in power facilities.
