About the Role
SolarShop Africa is looking for a high-energy, technically-minded Sales Technician to join our growing team. This is a unique hybrid role that sits at the intersection of technical design and commercial sales.
You won't just be "selling"—you will be designing solutions that provide energy independence and water security for our clients. You will be responsible for converting high-intent leads from our digital platforms and welcoming walk-in clients at our branches, turning technical inquiries into commissioned projects.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Conversion: Manage and close incoming leads generated through our eCommerce platform and social media channels.
Technical Consultation: Conduct site surveys and provide expert advice to walk-in and online customers regarding solar PV systems, hybrid battery storage, and solar water pumping (borehole) solutions.
System Design: Prepare professional Bill of Quantities (BoQ) and technical proposals for residential and commercial-grade projects.
Product Expertise: Demonstrate deep knowledge of our core equipment, including high-voltage hybrid inverters (e.g., Deye), JA Solar panels, and borehole pump controllers.
Relationship Management: Act as the primary point of contact from the initial inquiry through to the handover of the installed system.
Requirements & Qualifications
Technical Background: A Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
Sales Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in technical sales, specifically within the solar or water engineering sectors in East Africa.
Software Proficiency: Experience using design tools or CRM software to manage leads and generate professional quotes.
Communication: Ability to explain complex technical concepts (like fuel-save features or battery discharge rates) in simple, persuasive terms for clients.
Proactive Mindset: Highly organized with a proven ability to manage multiple leads simultaneously without losing momentum.
