Job Description

Cobalt Recruitment is seeking a Senior to Principal EIA Consultant in Bristol, UK, to enhance their Environmental Impact Assessment team. The role involves managing complex EIA projects, authoring Environmental Statements, and liaising with various stakeholders. Candidates should have 4+ years of consultancy experience and a degree in environmental science. An established multidisciplinary consultancy is looking to strengthen its Environmental Impact Assessment team due to a strong and growing project pipeline. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced EIA professional to take the next step in their career, working on a diverse range of complex development and infrastructure schemes across the UK.

Projects currently include strategic urban extensions, large-scale residential developments, town centre regeneration, mixed-use masterplans, and selected infrastructure and energy schemes.

The Role

As a Senior EIA Consultant, you will play a key role in managing and delivering impact assessment projects from inception through to submission.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Leading and coordinating EIA projects, particularly for major development schemes
• Acting as primary author and editor of Environmental Statements and related documentation
• Managing multidisciplinary inputs and reviewing specialist technical chapters
• Liaising with clients, design teams, planning authorities and consultees
• Overseeing project programmes, budgets and invoicing
• Supporting fee proposals, tender submissions and business development activities
• Attending networking and industry engagement events

About You

You will be degree qualified in environmental science or a related discipline and bring:
• Approximately 4+ years’ experience within a consultancy environment
• A strong track record of delivering proportionate EIAs on complex UK projects
• Solid understanding of EIA Regulations and the UK planning system
• Membership of a relevant professional body (or working towards chartership)
• Excellent written, analytical and organisational skills
• A proactive, commercially aware and detail-focused approach
