Perkins Eastman is seeking a Senior Urban Designer IV for their Seattle office. The role involves leading large-scale projects focused on enhancing human experiences related to transit, providing studio leadership in urban design, and managing multidisciplinary teams. The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Senior Urban Designer/ Principal in our Seattle office. This position would work on a variety of large-scale projects, designing for the human experience around transit and transportation of all modes, as well as provide studio leadership in urban design and land use planning efforts for integrated development. We see this position as an opportunity to manage and design in a variety of contexts while advancing practice leadership skills and responsibilities.
We are interested in exceptional candidates with strong analytical and communication skills who are passionate about community building. This person will work within our multidisciplinary team to coordinate a wide variety of projects in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Lead Large-Scale Projects: Oversee the design and implementation of large-scale projects focused on enhancing the human experience around various modes of transit and transportation.
• Studio Leadership: Provide leadership in urban design and land use planning within the studio, ensuring integrated development and cohesive project execution.
• Collaborative Design: Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to develop innovative and sustainable urban design solutions.
• Project Management: Manage projects from conception through completion, ensuring they meet client expectations, timelines, and budgets.
• Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and community members to ensure project success and satisfaction.
• Practice Leadership: Advance practice leadership skills by mentoring junior staff, contributing to business development, and promoting best practices in urban design.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure the highest standards of quality and excellence in all design and planning efforts.
Required Qualifications:
• 20 years of experience in built environments public or private sector
• Masters in architecture, Urban Design or Planning
• Large-scale public project delivery experience, with a sophisticated understanding of the Puget Sound Region built environment planning, zoning, and real estate.
• Exceptional communications, possessing demonstrated skill in the execution and management of politically, technically or operationally complex projects
• Exceptional skills in organization, graphic design, and written/verbal communication.
• Ability to work on multiple projects and manage project priorities.
• Managing teams; ability to provide clients with decision support and performance management advisory services.
• Experienced in various contract arrangements and adept at leading or participating in collaborative efforts with multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Able to multi-task including advancing internal project teams on design tasks, and tracking and reporting on project scopes
• Proficient in utilizing a range of software programs to enhance project communications and manage change, including Adobe Suites, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office suites, ESRI, and others as needed.
Type: Hybrid and team focused. 4 days in office, flexible days/working hours.
Salary Range: $150k to $175k
