The Senior Policy Analyst role at Principles for Responsible Investment focuses on developing and promoting policy positions related to responsible investment in the UK and Europe. The position involves creating communications, engaging with stakeholders, and influencing policymakers on sustainable finance issues. It is a full-time hybrid position, requiring at least two days per week in the office, based in London.
Senior Policy Analyst - UK /Europe role at Principles for Responsible Investment

Employment Type: Full‑time (expectation to work a minimum of 2 days per week from the PRI office when available). Location: Hybrid – London, City of, UK.

About the PRI

The PRI is the world’s leading proponent of responsible investment. It works to understand the investment implications of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and to support its international network of investor signatories in incorporating these factors into their investment and ownership decisions.

• Translate RI (Responsible Investment) thought leadership into insights and practical support that is tailored to what signatories need to progress their RI practice
• Convene our vast network to create opportunities for collaborative action
• Harness our global scale to influence policymakers and regulators to effect system change
Core Responsibilities
• Develop policy positions consistent with the implementation of PRI’s Mission Statement, the Six Principles, and ensuring consistency with other PRI positions where relevant.
• Prepare and deliver content development and communications (consultations, letters, policy position papers, briefings, newsletters, blogs, webinars, etc.), under the guidance of the Head of Europe policy to support the growth of the PRI’s EU Ecosystem and increase signatory support for sustainable finance policy.
• Promote and engage on draft positions in consultation with signatories, including via the PRI Collaboration Platform and the Regional Policy Reference Group, calibrating and integrating feedback gathered through interviews and/or workshop sessions.
• Submit and present policy positions to UK regulators and government as relevant, as well as European/International institutions and supranational organisations.
• Prepare briefing notes, key messages, and presentations for PRI executives on PRI policy activities, including for the CEO, team directors, and team heads, as well as for media engagement.
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with key policymakers, European signatories, and stakeholders (e.g., other investor networks, NGOs), focusing on the UK market to foster joint engagement as needed.
• Support the PRI's participation in events and meetings with key stakeholders (e.g., preparing briefings and presentations, follow‑up actions, logistics).
• Monitor and research key developments relevant to sustainable finance, stewardship, fiduciary duties, and pension regulation in the UK.
• Identify new areas of research and advocacy to support PRI’s work on sustainable finance policy.
• Contribute to wider policy team projects (signatory advisory groups, newsletters, regulatory database, events, ad‑hoc administrative support, etc.).
Person Specification
• Good knowledge of UK policy process and in particular UK sustainable finance agenda and responsible investment (ESG disclosure and data, SDR, UK Taxonomy development, corporate governance and Stewardship Code, pension bills, etc.).
• Previous experience in policy analysis, formulating policy positions, and conducting research, preferably including projects relevant to the finance industry.
• Good research and policy analysis skills with the ability to formulate and develop policy positions, while being able to navigate conflicting points of view.
• Outstanding communications and analytical skills demonstrated through professional experience, with professional English writing standard, editing skills and verbal presentation skills. Capacity to identify and solve problems in a structured and rigorous way.
• Comfort presenting to groups, speaking in public and facilitating workshops and an ability to adapt communication style to different audiences and to build consensus.
• Ability to operate autonomously, with little guidance and confidence to take responsibility and engage with policymakers and signatories.
• A collaborative and consultative approach to working with others & committed to fostering an inclusive environment.
• Knowledge of or interest in sustainable development and climate change, and their implications for public policy, with a philosophical commitment to sustainable investment and the mission of the PRI.
Additional Selection Criteria
• Demonstrable experience developing advocacy strategies, preferably with proven first‑hand experience working with or at policymakers and regulators, trade associations, public affairs consultancy, or relevant non‑profits.
• Comfort with remote working systems and practices, and working alone or as part of a small office.
• Education in economics, public policy, finance, international affairs or similar preferred.
• Proficiency in at least one or two other European languages, in addition to English.
