Job Description
Harman is seeking a Senior Manager for Sustainability, Strategy, and Reporting, focusing on greenhouse gas (GHG) data and decarbonization strategies. This role involves advising stakeholders, supporting corporate decarbonization efforts, managing GHG emissions reporting, and evolving renewable energy strategies. The candidate should have a background in engineering or environmental science and experience in GHG accounting and sustainability frameworks. This position is remote, based in Home, KS.

About the Role
Harman’s Corporate Sustainability team is looking for a Senior Sustainability/ESG Manager for Greenhouse Gas (“GHG”) Data, Strategy, and Reporting to advance the decarbonization efforts in line with science-based carbon targets. You will serve as the subject matter expert on carbon data, decarbonization strategy, internal controls implementation, and external reporting.
The role will be instrumental in advancing decarbonization strategy and fostering innovation through internal and external partnerships, offering exciting opportunities for growth, learning and leadership. You will be an integral part of the corporate ESG team, leading key initiatives and working collaboratively across the Automotive, Lifestyle, Digital Transformation and Technology Solutions Divisions, and Global Functions to ensure Harman achieves its sustainability goals. The role will enable Harman and its partners to thrive sustainably and responsibly by helping drive sustainable development across the markets and communities we live and serve.
What You Will Do
• Serve as advisor and business partner directly supporting the key stakeholders, business units, and functional leaders to operationalize decarbonization efforts into business strategy.
• Support corporate decarbonization strategy and cross-functional science-based targets task force to inspire change informed by science.
• Evolve renewable energy procurement strategy to support our RE100 ambition.
• Serve as subject matter expert on product environmental life cycle analysis, translate scientific data into actionable insights and support creation of environmental product declarations.
• Support climate-related risk characterization and analysis.
• Proficient in data modeling of carbon emissions and costs across various business growth scenarios and setting up computer simulation exercises.
• Compile GHG emissions annually and manage external verification process.
• Mature GHG accounting practices, software systems, and internal controls by working closely with finance, audit, and the digital teams to ensure efficient and streamlined internal and external reporting.
• Monitor and communicate how emerging trends on decarbonization, including new technology and carbon pricing, bring risks and opportunities to business.
• Create decarbonization dashboard that facilitate tracking and reporting on in-flight, planned and completed decarbonization initiatives by Scope 1, 2, 3 against plan in collaboration with Finance.
• Manage CDP reporting and other external carbon-related disclosures.
What You Need
• Bachelors in Engineering or Environmental Science or other climate science-related fields
• 5 years of professional experience in GHG accounting (Scopes 1, 2, 3 inventories), carbon emissions data modeling, and external reporting
• Fluent with ESG and sustainability frameworks (e.g., TCFD, CDP, SASB, CSRD, CSDDD, IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards)
• Hands-on experience with science-based target setting and product life cycle analysis.
• Proficient in data modeling and scenario analysis of carbon emissions and costs
• Ability to communicate technical decarbonization concepts in simplistic business terms for action.
• Strong project management skills, cross-functional team leadership and communication skills, and problem-solving skills
What is Nice to Have
• Masters in Environmental Science or Engineering
• Familiar with COSO Internal Control Framework
• Experience with developing GHG inventories across multiple companies/industries
• Supply chain mapping to identify carbon emissions hotspots
What Makes You Eligible
• Be willing to travel up to 20%, domestic and international travel
• This role is eligible to work remotely full-time with occasional trips into various office locations as required (this could be on 24-hour notice)
• Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment

Salary Ranges:
USD 135,750 - USD 199,100
