Cascade Energy is seeking a Senior Engineer I for the Chicago area to assess client operations and maximize energy efficiency in industrial systems. The role involves site visits, project oversight, and client engagement. About This Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Engineer I (Sr. PE I) for the Chicago area. The Sr. PE I engages with our clients at a high level to assess their operations, identify opportunities, and provide recommendations for maximizing energy efficiency and performance in industrial systems. The Sr PE I will conduct site visits and work closely with utility engineers and evaluators. This role will review and oversee all projects for a local utility, including subcontractors. The Sr. PE I will provide feedback and guidance to a group of engineers.

What You Will Be Doing
• Leading, managing, and directing high-profile projects and maintaining accountability on assigned projects
• Calculating energy savings for various system or equipment changes using existing calculation tools, original spreadsheets, and/or generally accepted methodologies
• Engaging with clients at their industrial locations to gain a deep understanding their equipment and operations, identifying opportunities for energy efficiency, and providing recommendations
• Fostering and growing client relationships and identifying opportunities that may result in generating significant new work from new and existing clients
• Presenting complex technical issues with a diverse audience in a way that facilitates understanding and consensus
• Composing energy efficiency project reports based on analyses and observations
• Documenting performance through data collection from customer sources or via installed data logging equipment
• Maintaining expert knowledge of utility programs and their compliance requirements
• Providing peer mentorship through technical discussions and work review
This is a full-time, exempt position to be located within the Chicagoland area. Ideally, the final candidate will be within our clients service territory to be available for day trips to customer sites or client meetings. The service territory comprises the majority of northern Illinois, including the Chicago metropolitan area. It extends to the Wisconsin border to the north, the Iowa border to the west, the Indiana boarder to the east, and Iroquois County to the south (roughly I-80). Our local office is located in Park Ridge IL. Estimated travel is at 20% for local site visits.
Qualifications
• Applicants for this role are required to have:
• Bachelor's Degree, or higher, in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field of study
• 5- 8 years of engineering experience, specifically Energy Efficiency
• Technical industrial systems knowledge and experience reviewing studies
• 2-4 years of experience training/mentoring
A successful candidate should also demonstrate these preferred characteristics and/or skills:
• Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making capabilities demonstrated by educational or professional experiences
• Strong project management and organization skills with excellent attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to comfortably interact with internal and external customers and stakeholders to serve their needs
• Solid understanding of internal policies and procedures
• Proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated to achieve project results

Compensation & Benefits
Our total rewards include competitive pay and excellent benefits. These include health, vision, FSA or HSA options with an employer contribution, life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, paid parental leave, 401k retirement plan with a guaranteed 3% contribution, Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP), annual cash performance bonus, paid vacation, sick time, and an inclusive, flexible paid holiday policy, wellbeing contribution of $500 for HSA, FSA, or LSA (Lifestyle Spending Account).
The salary range for this position in Park Ridge, Illinois is $101,640 - $127,050. Final salary offered may vary depending on non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experiences, and geographical location if different than the above.
