Job Description

WWF-India is seeking a Senior Education Officer in Kolkata to design and lead environmental awareness campaigns, implement educational programs, and conduct training workshops. The role requires a postgraduate degree in relevant fields, at least 3 years of experience, and strong communication skills. Responsibilities include managing budgets, preparing grant proposals, and building partnerships for environmental initiatives. The position is full-time and not remote.
WWF-India is one of the largest organisations, engaged in wildlife and nature conservation for over 50 years. We invite applications from candidates for the position of Senior Project Officer for Environment Education to be based in our West Bengal State Office.

Location: Kolkata

Job Profile:
• Design and lead environmental awareness campaigns targeting youth, teachers, and the public, fostering a culture of environmental stewardship.
• Plan and implement environmental education (EE) programmes and events, including both classroom-based and experiential learning in field settings.
• Organize and coordinate training workshops and capacity-building programs for teachers, educators, and community groups on various environmental themes.
• Conduct presentations, talks, and seminars for schools, businesses, and technical audiences on key topics such as climate change, biodiversity, water conservation, waste management, and sustainability.
• Build networks and partnerships across sectors, and facilitate collaborative discussions among stakeholders with diverse interests to drive consensus and decision-making on environmental issues.
• Design, implement, and evaluate communication plans and outreach programs to amplify the impact of environmental education initiatives.
• Manage programme budgets effectively, prepare grant proposals, and support fundraising efforts for education and outreach initiatives.

Requirements
Desired Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
• Post Graduate in Life Sciences / Wildlife Biology/ Ecology / Environmental Education with minimum 60% marks
• Minimum 3 years in a similar role.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences including students, educators, and community stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience in organizing and leading nature trails, environmental camps, awareness drives, or related field-based education programs.
• Strong project coordination and organizational skills, including the ability to manage education campaigns, workshops, and partnerships with schools or institutions.
• A passion for conservation and a proven track record of planning and implementing
• The candidate must have working knowledge of sustainability, climate resilience, and contemporary environmental issues.
• The candidate should have demonstrable experience in writing documents, analytical reports and making presentations.
• Proficiency in English, Bengali. Knowledge of Hindi could be an added advantage.
