Job Description: Science/STEM Teacher for K-8 School

Position Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Science Teacher to join our K-8 school. The ideal candidate will develop and implement engaging science programs for middle school students, fostering curiosity and critical thinking through hands-on, inquiry-based learning.

This position is part-time, scheduled for Tuesdays-Fridays from 11:30 am-3:30 pm, running from August 2025 to May 2026. Compensation is based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience, with an hourly rate.

Key Responsibilities:
• Instruction: Deliver engaging, age-appropriate science lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and state standards, setting clear objectives to encourage scientific inquiry and critical thinking. Incorporate technology to enhance student understanding and connect concepts to real-world applications.
• Lesson Planning: Submit weekly lesson plans to the teaching coach every Monday. This includes creating and sharing a syllabus with topics, assignments, and due dates, as well as designing and implementing interactive, hands-on activities to engage students and enhance learning. Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop interdisciplinary lessons that integrate scientific concepts.
• Classroom Management: Manage a classroom effectively, maintaining order and fostering a respectful and inclusive environment. Demonstrate patience, adaptability, and strong classroom management skills while working with students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
• Grading and Student Assessment: Evaluate student work, projects, and assessments in a timely and constructive manner, providing meaningful feedback that supports academic growth. Track student progress and identify areas for improvement, adapting instructional methods as needed to meet individual learning needs. Communicate assessment results with students, parents, and school staff to ensure transparency and collaboration in the learning process.
• Professional Development: Engage in ongoing lesson planning, curriculum development, and professional growth by meeting with the teaching coach to discuss instructional strategies and best practices.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, or a related field required or currently enrolled in a degree program.
• Experience in science education and curriculum development.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with school staff, parents, and community partners.
