Retail Merchandiser

UNFI is hiring a Retail Merchandiser in Methuen, MA, to support Market Basket customers. The role involves ordering products, maintaining displays, and ensuring effective customer relationships. Full-time hours are offered with a pay rate of $21-$22 per hour, plus benefits and mileage reimbursement. Candidates need a valid driver's license and prior retail customer service experience. Daily travel is required, along with physical tasks like lifting and setting up displays.
This position will support a route of UNFI customers (Market Basket) and offers:
• Full-Time hours.
• Full Benefits.
• Hourly rate of $21 - $22, paid weekly.
• Mileage reimbursement accrued home to home, paid weekly.

Purpose:

Partner with assigned customers to ensure they have the right products at the right time in the right placement.

Essential Functions:
• Order products that align with the needs of the customer. Responsible for effectively displaying store products.
• Responsible for maintaining effective business relationships with customers.
• Responsible for arriving promptly at customer locations on assigned routes for service.
• Responsible for rotating stock and removing out-of-code products.
• Process merchandise returns and issue credits according to company policy.
• Ensure the neat and orderly appearance of UNFI products.
• Responsible for product and/or delivery notifications to customers.
• Assist in hanging shelf tags and promotional POS/POP materials and resets.
• Sell promotional and sales programs as assigned.
• Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for the location.
• Follow through on customer product requests.
• Keep management informed of area activities and of any significant concerns.
• Attend meetings as required.
• Provides backup for other field sales representatives when needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Performs other relevant job duties as required.

Job Requirements:

Education/Certifications:
• Valid driver's license necessary.
• Auto insurance levels that meet UNFI requirements.

Experience:
• Prior customer service experience in a retail setting.
• System implementation preferred.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Time management skills and attention to detail.
• Basic math abilities.
• Ability to work independently.
• Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Physical Environment/Demands:
• Daily travel is required and access to a vehicle is necessary.
• Ability to get in and out of the car multiple times per day.
• Drive to and from accounts safely in city, rural, and expressway conditions.
• Ability to set up displays, fixtures, shelving, and products.
• Able to tolerate exposure to store and warehouse conditions including wide variances in temperature, dust, and dirt.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
