Job Description
As an/a Residential Energy Auditor, you will be an early key hire in this role, responsible for delivering high-quality in-home energy audits and ensuring quality control for our HOMES and HEAR programs. You are a customer-focused technician proficient in BPI standards and related certifications, conducting comprehensive in-home energy audits with a focus on income-based program participants and collaboration with contractor networks.
Your oversight will extend to residential weatherization, HVAC, and water heating installation inspections, reviewing QA/QC findings to ensure program integrity. Working with partners to identify and implement effective solutions based on audit findings and client feedback will be key to your success. Additionally, you will collaborate cross-functionally with various teams to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of Resource Innovations’ program solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Define SOP for the Field Service team from Energy Audits to QA/QC.
• Recruit and train a team of BPI trained Energy Auditors.
• Manage and implement the field and internal verification process across multiple programs and clients, including the selection and review of assignments, tracking performance against metrics, and ensuring all necessary forms and materials are completed.
• May also conduct onsite inspections, write inspection reports, and provide solutions to remedy failed inspections across the teams.
• Develop and implement Energy audit protocols, QA/QC requirements, and implementation plans.
• Provide education, training, and coaching to trade allies to minimize failed inspections, mitigate faulty workmanship, and remedy failures when they occur.
• Conduct field inspections as well as oversee staff conducting inspections, and effectively manage trade allies.
• Review program QC findings, reports, and remedy inaccuracies.
• Leverage best practices and continuous improvement plans to implement long-term solutions in partnership with the client and Resource Innovations’ Program Managers.
• Identify root cause analyses and make recommendations for client-facing reports.
• Generate weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports to audit, monitor, and measure performance and relevant metrics.
• Manage team to ensure contract compliance in forecasting requirements and KPIs.
• Conduct internal and external trainings, including webinars, tutorials, and conference calls on relevant business processes and standards.
• Manage the process of regularly reviewing and updating critical program documentation, including verification guides, forms, manuals, policies, and procedures.
• Stay updated on industry trends and insights regarding policy and procedure manuals to ensure program materials are most relevant.
• Work as part of a cross-functional team that includes program operations, IT, Marketing, and Customer Service/Processing.
• Meet regularly with contractor management, customer service, and processing leads to ensure best practices and continuous improvement initiatives are aligned and effectively implemented.
• Conduct scheduled and unscheduled reviews of the application process to identify improvement opportunities.
• Other duties as assigned.Requirements
• Must be located in or willing to relocate to the greater Pittsburgh, PA or Philadelphia, PA area within 30 days of acceptance.
• A Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years’ experience in a quality control and quality assurance role, or consulting, energy efficiency, or utility experience highly desired.
• Knowledge of building science, construction, and technical expertise is required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle to visit customer and client sites.
• Ability to travel 25% to 75% of the time (limited overnight travel).
• Must be a US citizen or authorized to work in the US.
Preferred Certifications and Skills
• BPI Building Analyst and Envelope certifications.
• HERS and RESNET Rater certification.
• Experience with Snugg Pro is a plus.
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple priorities.
• Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM tools.
• Customer service focus.
• Ability to apply detailed knowledge of organizational procedures to make independent decisions and serve as a credible resource for senior management.
• Interest in sustainability and a passion for making a meaningful environmental impact.
