Job Description
The National University of Singapore is seeking a Research Fellow for the Heat Resilience & Performance Centre. The role involves leading studies on heat-related illnesses due to climate change, analyzing health data, and collaborating with healthcare systems. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in a relevant field and experience in health research. This is a full-time position based in Singapore with a salary range of SGD 20K–SGD 60K annually.

Job Description
The Heat Resilience & Performance Centre (HRPC) is a first-of-its-kind research centre, established at the National University of Singapore (NUS), to spearhead and conduct research and development to address the challenges arising from climate change & extreme heat.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Research Fellow to join our team for a critical study on the impact of climate change and global warming on human health, specifically addressing heat-related illnesses (HRIs) in Singapore’s context. This study aims to establish baseline HRI data and integrate this with climate projection models to assess future health burdens and intervention strategies. The successful candidate will work on both prospective and retrospective studies, collaborating with national healthcare systems and leveraging large datasets for high-impact research.
Key Responsibilities and Roles
• Lead a retrospective study utilizing a decade of health data to create a comprehensive HRI database.
• Investigate the distribution and determinants of HRI by applying epidemiological methods to understand patterns and identify risk factors.
• Collaborate in the execution of a two-year prospective study with emergency departments across all public hospitals in Singapore, focusing on standardizing HRI diagnosis and management workflows.
• Analyze and integrate prospective and retrospective HRI data with climate projections and predictive models to estimate future HRI burdens and assess interventions.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and engage with stakeholders in healthcare and climate research to align study outcomes with national health preparedness and resource allocation priorities.
• Prepare and disseminate research findings through scientific publications, reports, and presentations to both academic and healthcare stakeholders.
Qualifications
• Ph.D. in a relevant field such as Epidemiology, Public Health, Climate Science, Data Science, or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale data sets and conducting health-related research studies.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical software and data analysis tools, particularly in health and climate data integration.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
• Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration and a commitment to fostering a collaborative research environment.Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience in research related to climate change, heat-related illnesses, or public health preparedness.
• Familiarity with Singapore’s healthcare system and national health priorities.
• Experience with predictive modelling and scenario analysis in health and climate studies.
The role is based in Singapore.
Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
