Purpose
The Sustainable Mobility team at CEEW is looking for a Research Analyst to join our dynamic team
dedicated to transforming road transport. Our focus spans various vehicles from 2 and 3wheelers to
cars buses and medium and heavyduty trucks. The successful candidate will be responsible for
developing strategic roadmaps and scenariobased approaches tailored to advance sustainable mobility.
This position involves employing datadriven approaches to inform and optimize mobility planning and
policymaking conducting indepth analyses of transportation data to identify trends opportunities and
areas for improvement.
The role includes identifying tactical and strategic interventions and assessing their implications on
mobile source emissions such as travel demand management shifts from private to public modes and
active and nonmotorized transport (such as bicycling and walking). Additionally you will be responsible
for the quantification measurement and modeling of vehicular emissions including detailed source
apportionment of regulated pollutants and greenhouse gas (GHG) inventorying. By implementing
targeted interventions and innovative strategies successful candidate will contribute to enhancing the
efficiency and sustainability of urban mobility.
Job duties and accountabilities
Research and Project Management Unit Support
Conduct analyses involving a combination of multiple complex data layers network analysis and
detailed visualisation of the outputs. These data layers include but not limited to: public transit
network census people and goods movement roadsafety pollution congestion landuse and
remote sensing data.
Utilize stateofthe art scientific methodologies and analytical tools to evaluate the effectiveness
of various sustainable mobility interventions and emission mitigation strategies.
Proficient and adaptable in working with satellite data (such as MODIS OMI) and reanalysis data
(such as MERRA WUSTL).
Experience with geoinformatics and geospatial analysis using QGIS/ArcGIS
Maintain air quality monitoring systems collect and curate data and develop standard
operating procedures (SOPs) specifically designed to measure emissions from mobile sources
and transportation activities.
Support specific projects and overall activity planning related to electric vehicle transition and
sustainable mobility research. Facilitate collaboration and integration of efforts across various
research teams.
Collaborate with urban planners policymakers and transportation departments to integrate air
quality considerations into mobility solutions.
Prepare comprehensive reports and policy briefs. Ensure documentation is clear accurate and
persuasive effectively communicating complex information to a variety of audiences including
policymakers technical staff and the general public.
Actively engage with key stakeholders including government agencies industry partners
environmental groups and the community to gather insights and build relationships.
Selection Criteria:
Work experience

Qualification
Masters in Science/Engineering/TechnologyEnvironmental Transport Civil Mechanical
Chemical Energy or related quantitative disciplines
Key skills
Strong quantitative data analytics and applied econometrics skills (e.g. R Python SPSS or
STATA)
Proficient in QGIS or ArcGIS and skilled in visualizing complex datasets and dashboard
preparation (Power BI Tableau etc.
Prior experience in vehicular pollution (global and local) characterization apportionment
inventorying and impact assessment.
Demonstrated realworld and/or laboratorybased expertise in the operation and maintenance
of air pollution measuring devices particularly those related to vehicle emissions.
Strong understanding of the principles of atmospheric conditions emission control
technologies and air pollution mitigation pertaining to the transportation sector
Proficiency in using MS Excel is a must
Must have strong research skills capability to carry out literature review is a key requisite.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to work on multidisciplinary projects.
Ability to think on your feet for solving complex and evolving problems in mobility.
Additional Considerations
Background and experience in one or more of the following subthemes would be a plus
Knowledge in developing and managing databases creating user interfaces web sing and
scripting for data manipulation (e.g. HTML CSS VBA JAVA)
Scientific programming and modeling experience using MATLAB/Simulink
Technoeconomic assessments of alternative powertrains (hybrid electric fuelcell) vehicle
stock and flow dynamics traffic flow and travel demand modelling
Fundamentals of EV technology market diffusion trends charging infrastructure city/local to
national policies and their benefits
