Job Description
EHS Support is seeking a Remediation System Operation and Maintenance Technician in Southern California, preferably LA or San Diego. The role involves operating, maintaining, and repairing remediation systems, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Key tasks include equipment monitoring, routine maintenance, compliance sampling, and troubleshooting. Candidates should have a high school diploma, 2 years of relevant experience, and strong mechanical and electrical knowledge.
Location: Southern California (LA or San Diego area preferred).
Job Summary: The O&M Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment associated with various remediation systems including soil vapor extraction and groundwater pump and treatment. This role ensures the efficient and effective functioning of the systems to meet regulatory and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate and monitor remediation equipment and systems, including pumps, motors, valves, and control systems.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment.
• Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.
• Perform compliance sampling of remediation systems (e.g., system influent, treated effluent discharge, etc.) according to NPDES and AQMD permits.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities, and equipment performance.
• Collect groundwater, soil, sediment, and/or surface water samples in accordance with work plan procedures and quality control requirements.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operations and address any issues promptly.
• Contribute to completion of routine operation and maintenance reports.
• Participate in emergency response activities and provide support during shutdowns or outages.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in operations and maintenance, preferably in a treatment plant or similar industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces.
• Experience with SCADA systems and biological treatment using a fluidized bed reactor is a plus
