Job Description
Son of a Saint is seeking a full-time Recreation Coordinator in New Orleans, LA, to develop and execute activities for fatherless boys and their mentors. Responsibilities include organizing volunteers, maintaining program materials, coordinating transportation, and ensuring participation requirements are met. A Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years of relevant experience are preferred. The role emphasizes teamwork, accountability, and stress management in a nonprofit environment.

Position Summary:
Son of a Saint is looking for a full-time Recreation Coordinator to join our team. This position will support the Son of a Saint Programming Team by working with community partners and Son of a Saint staff to develop, plan and execute activities, outings, and events for Son of a Saint mentees and mentors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Execution:
• Organizing volunteers and other staff for the day-to-day after-school, weekend, and summer activities
• Maintaining an inventory of programming materials, equipment, and other resources to ensure quality facilitation.
• Analyzing program requirements, developing projects, and identifying resources needed.
• Coordinating with various programming staff to support mentees meet all program participation requirements.
• Maintaining professional relationships with partners, city departments, and various agencies and ensuring ongoing access to resources
Activity Coordination:
• Coordinating transportation for program participants to and from Son of a Saint programming activities. This can include transporting mentees to and from activities on an as-needed basis.
• Working with the Program Manager and other key staff members to ensure all the required staff and materials are available for all activities, a room or space is reserved for the event and any promotional materials are developed and distributed in advance of the programs.
• Communicating with Son of a Saint guardian to ensure that mentees are confirmed for events.
• Ensuring all Son of a Saint programming activities are appropriately reflected on the Son of a Saint App and Team Calendar.
• Working with Programming Assistant to track attendance and participation of Son of a Saint mentees and mentors, ensuring that minimum attendance requirements are met
• Perform other agency and program-related duties as needed.
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred
• 2-5 years of experience working in education, job training, youth programming, or a related field
• Driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
• Applicant must be comfortable driving company vehicles (SUV/12-passenger van)
• Experience working with middle school and/or high school students, incorporating cross-cultural competency to support and challenge them appropriately
• Experience in the nonprofit sector is preferred

• Experience working with diverse populations
• Experience working with youth
• Able to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to work collaboratively with Son of a Saint staff, mentors, mentee guardians, and various members and groups from the community
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and is able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Proficient computer skills
• Knowledge of event planning practices and techniques

• Candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to write by hand and use keyboard to perform general functions.
• Ability to communicate by speech and hearing continuously.
• Visual acuity (close, distant, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus and view accurate color perception) needed for detail work, and computer use.
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

Working Days/Hours:
• This position’s schedule will be flexible to accommodate meeting with the boys, families, school staff, and community partners
• The working days will predominantly be Monday through Friday, with weekend or evening hours as needed
