Lab Coordinator at Advancing Eco Agriculture

Advancing Eco Agriculture is dedicated to innovation in crop nutrition and regenerative agriculture. We are seeking a dedicated and organized Lab Manager to join our R&D team. In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of our laboratory, ensuring that all processes run smoothly and efficiently. You will work closely with our chemist and researchers to support product development and testing initiatives, maintaining high standards of safety and quality. Your expertise will be required to partner with all members of R&D, external consultants and research teams, on various developmental projects and technologies.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in laboratory management, excellent organizational skills, understanding of soil chemistry and biology, experience using DNA sequencing methods, and a desire to advance sustainable agriculture practices. This role will must have a deep and broad technical experience to evaluate and advise in many areas. This position report daily to our lab located at 38227 Western Parkway, in Willoughby, Ohio.

Responsibilities:

· Manage daily laboratory operations including scheduling, workflow, and inventory management.

· Ensure compliance with safety protocols and best laboratory practices (GLP).

· Coordinate sample collection, preparation and processing for various experiments and research projects.

· Collaborate with R&D teams to support development of new protocols, evaluation, testing, and validation.

· Play an integral role in driving research outcomes by collaborating with R&D team members on new and developmental technologies.

· Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring functionality and reliability.

· Track and document laboratory activities, results, and data to maintain accurate records.

· Assist in the training of new staff and interns in laboratory procedures and safety protocols.

· Organize and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment, including purchasing and procurement.

· Support compliance with regulatory requirements specific to laboratory operations.

Skills/Abilities:

· Computer skills sufficient to execute computer analysis as instructed. Additional computational skills considered a plus.

· Understanding current laboratory analysis of soils considered a plus.

· Honest and effective communication skills

· Curious and enthusiastic about science and interested in supporting develop of new methods for continuous improvement and shifting business needs

· Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision and oversight

· Team player who works collaboratively with others to create an effective, efficient and enjoyable work environment

· Adaptability, flexibility and open to learning new things through formal training and self education to grow skills and understanding

Requirements

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related field or equivalent experience
• Previous laboratory management or coordination experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulations.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Proficiency in laboratory equipment and techniques related to agricultural science.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in data management and reporting.

Supervisory responsibilities

• None to start, potential to grow into managing other laboratory personnel.

Work environment

• On-site laboratory in Willoughby, OH

Physical demands

• Must be able to walk and or stand or sit for up to 8 hours a day.

• Hands on work in laboratory in Willoughby, OH

Travel required

• Possible occasional travel needed for training to maintain industry knowledge and/or to attend conferences.

Preferred education and experience •

• B.S. in Biology, Chemistry, Plant Science, Soil Science or related field or similar equivalent.
