Job Description
The Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide (ELAW) is seeking a Full-Time Program Assistant in Eugene, OR, to support various teams with tasks such as data management, team coordination, and general clerical duties. Candidates should have a commitment to human rights and environmental protection, with skills in data entry and proficiency in office software. The position is onsite, offering a salary of $46,000 - $52,000 and benefits.
The Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide (ELAW) seeks a motivated individual to support our team and our work with public interest lawyers around the world.
ELAW is a global alliance of lawyers, scientists, and other advocates collaborating across borders to build a sustainable, just future. ELAW's global partners are addressing complex issues including challenging fossil fuel projects; reining in plastic pollution; protecting the climate; defending land rights; securing clean water; conserving ecosystems; and protecting environmental defenders.
The Full-Time Program Assistant will help support the Law, Defenders, and Science Teams at ELAW.
Duties include:
• Data entry, management, and updates in Salesforce database
• Support team leads with various team management tasks
• Provide general support such as redirecting inquiries, locating documents, editing, proofreading, and more
• Providing translation using technical tools
• Scheduling meetings
• Coordinating schedules of various teams and working groups
• Coordinating interpreters for meetings
• Matching volunteers with team needs
• Updating resources on the ELAW web site
• Checking data for consistency
• Support intern recruitment processes
• Gathering data from various teams
• Travel support
• Support documentation management and organization
• Other tasks such as preparing legal documents for filing, and mailing documents
• Occasional research support
• Other general clerical and office tasks
Required experience and qualifications
• A demonstrated commitment to human rights and environmental protection
• Permission to work in the United States
• Residence in or near Eugene, Oregon
• Computer proficiency and the ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time
• Experience with, exposure to, or strong interest in data entry
• Interest, ability, or experience working successfully in cross-cultural settings
• The ability to work within a team, as well as independently
• General working knowledge of office equipment
• The ability to use or learn the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel
• The ability to use or learn Google Workspace, including Calendar, Gmail, Drive, and Docs
• The ability to use or learn virtual collaboration technology tools, including Zoom and Google Meet
• A smartphone or phone that is able to use various apps
• Fluency in English and one other language
• Writing, proofreading, and editing skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Good time-management skills and ability to prioritize competing tasks
• Good problem-solving skills
• Willingness to join occasional meetings outside traditional working hours
Preferred experience and qualifications:
• Post high school degree in relevant field
• Experience with Salesforce or other database programs
• Office experience: 1+ years
• Experience with non-profit organizations
• Other languages are a plus
• Experience working with volunteers
• Experience supporting lawyers or formatting legal documents
Compensation: $46,000 - $52,000
