About this Role

The Principal at Aruwa Capital Management is tasked with spearheading the origination and execution of investments, alongside leading portfolio management efforts. This involves building and managing a robust pipeline aligned with Aruwa’s strategic focus on growth-stage energy and climate tech investments within Africa. A key part of the role involves leading deal sourcing through various networks and representing Aruwa at important ecosystem events. The Principal is integral in guiding investments through the initial screening stages, all the way through due diligence, negotiation, and closure. They are expected to lead portfolio management efforts to create value and support strategic decisions.

Responsibilities
• Build and manage a high-quality pipeline aligned to Aruwa’s strategy.
• Originate proprietary opportunities through various networks.
• Represent Aruwa at key ecosystem events.
• Lead deal teams through the full investment process.
• Drive commercial, financial, technical, legal, and ESG/impact due diligence.
• Coordinate external advisors and manage transaction timelines.
• Lead term sheet negotiation with Founders.
• Serve as an active owner working with portfolio leadership on strategic initiatives.
• Monitor KPIs, and financial performance, and address underperformance.
• Prepare portfolio updates and insights for internal and LP reporting.
• Mentor and develop associates/analysts and strengthen fund processes.

Requirements
• 10+ years of relevant private equity or growth equity experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or accounting.
• Significant experience in financial analysis, modelling, and deal completion.
• Demonstrated end-to-end deal execution experience.
• Strong knowledge of African markets and networks.
• Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong financial analysis and investment storytelling skills.
