AECOM is hiring a Mid-level Landscape Architecture Designer for a hybrid role based in Sacramento or Oakland, CA. The position involves supporting sustainable landscape architecture, habitat restoration, and environmental design projects. Responsibilities include preparing designs, conducting site assessments, and creating reports. Candidates should have a BA/BS in a related field and 4 years of relevant experience, with knowledge of California native plants being a plus.
About the position

AECOM's Design + Environmental Planning team is seeking a Mid-level Landscape Designer with interest in restoration ecology, landscape architecture and environmental design. This hybrid position can be based in our Sacramento or Oakland, CA offices.
Opportunities include the ability to support and partner with other AECOM designers and ecologists on sustainable landscape architecture, habitat restoration, mitigation, environmental design, visual impact assessment and other project assignments.

Responsibilities
• Support in preparation of schematic and conceptual designs, construction drawings and specifications, cost estimates, and illustrative drawings and computer-generated graphics.
• Project coordination and project site visits to conduct site assessments, monitoring, or construction oversight.
• Support projects for the Northern California Environmental Planning practice.
• Preparation of irrigation plans, details, schedules.
• Preparation of basis of design, mitigation, vegetation survey, visual impact and other reports.
• Preparation of planting plans, details, seeding and planting schedules.
• Detailed vegetation and tree surveys.
• Visual impact assessment; Calculations of water demand and preparation of irrigation schedules.

Requirements
• BA/BS in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Planning, Ecological Restoration, Plant Ecology or a related field.
• 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education with an emphasis on landscape design, sustainable landscape design, and ecological restoration with a strong knowledge of California native plant identification.
• Valid Driver's license is required for this role.
• Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

Nice-to-haves
• 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD, and Land F/X to prepare landscape and irrigation progress, permit and construction drawings.
• Strong working knowledge of CA native plants, their identification with scientific and common names, ecology, phenology and growing requirements and preferences.
• Familiarity with irrigation design, MWELO requirements and WUCOLS.
• Capable of working independently while adhering to project budgets and schedules.
• Motivated to improve the natural environment and interested in sustainable landscaping and ecological restoration.
• Proficient knowledge of MS Suite, PDF Exchange or Acrobat. (InDesign or Photoshop helpful as well).
• Experience preparing construction drawings and specs for landscape, irrigation, restoration and other environmental design projects.
• Ability to work with people in a cooperative environment, as an ambassador for the firm and our clients.
• Experience with both private and public sector projects is preferred but not required.
• Excellent written communication skills, grammar, writing and report preparation capabilities.
• Capable of working on multiple tasks and multiple projects simultaneously.
