Job Description

Octavia Carbon is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Nairobi, Kenya. The role involves designing reactor shells, integrating systems, ensuring safety compliance, and developing maintenance SOPs. Candidates should have a degree in mechanical or mechatronics engineering, proficiency in CAD, and strong analytical skills. Octavia Carbon is the global south’s first Direct Air Capture (DAC) company. We design, build, and deploy our DAC technology in Kenya. We are looking for a dynamic engineer to join our Product team. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong mastery of basic principles in structural analysis & design, and proficiency in CAD design, with a strong background in kinematics. For your application to be considered, your resume should accompany the assignment below.

Key responsibilities:
• Design of reactor shell as per internationally recognized standards for pressure vessels (ASME)
• Systems integrator for other subsystems, such as electrical and heating systems.
• Design the reactor for ease of maintenance and safety, in compliance with OSH regulations.
• Procure and conduct well-documented quality control checks on all purchased items to ascertain design conformance.
• Develop assembly, testing, and maintenance SOPs for all designed and procured items.
• Any other structural engineering work that further interests the company.

Required Skills:
• Degree in mechanical or mechatronics engineering.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks).
• Knowledge of kinematic and structural design principles.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
