About the position

The Material Handler III position at APL Logistics involves providing warehouse services through the safe and efficient handling of customer products and materials. This role includes loading, unloading, staging, and storage of products using specialized equipment, while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies. The position requires attention to detail and the ability to operate various types of warehouse equipment, contributing to operational efficiency and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
• Load picked orders according to policies and procedures, completing appropriate paperwork including Bill of Lading and Pick Report.

• Unload, move, stack, and stage customer products and materials using forklift or other power equipment.
,
• Accurately locate and load customer products onto/from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves according to established procedures.
,
• Count, weigh, and record the number of units of materials handled on a daily production sheet.
,
• Complete specialized order processing for loading by stenciling, slip-sheeting, shrink wrapping, labeling, and consolidating as required.
,
• Assign/verify trailers to appropriate dock and/or yard location, ensuring safety rules are followed.
,
• Daily inspect and repair or make adjustments before operating tow-motor vehicles.
,
• Prepare trailers prior to loading product by inspecting and cleaning as needed.
,
• Complete activity and statistical reports as assigned by supervisor.
,
• Assist in physical inventories ensuring facility and contents are secure.

Requirements
• High School degree or equivalent required.
,
• Two years forklift/tow motor experience required, including fork lift certification preferred.
,
• Knowledge of inventory control and general warehouse procedures.
,
• Light data entry skills required.
,
• Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions.
,
• Ability to operate various types of forklifts and pallet jacks.
,
• Basic math skills and ability to write legibly.
,
• Attention to detail for continuous mental and visual attention.
,
• Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner.

Nice-to-haves
• 1-2 years warehouse or related work experience preferred.
