Role
PPM Solar is looking for a Lead Electrician to join our PPM Field Operations team and enhance our solar installation quality and energy efficiency initiatives. This role requires exceptional technical expertise in electrical systems, problem-solving skills, and commitment to safety standards. Our Licensed Electricians promote PPM Solar’s impact on renewable energy adoption by ensuring all electrical systems are installed and maintained to the highest safety and quality standards. The Licensed Electrician supports our shared vision by contributing to the successful installation of solar energy systems that empower communities to transition to clean energy solutions.
Responsibilities
• Interpret and execute complex electrical schematics and blueprints to plan work scopes, install systems, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
• Perform new power distribution installations, transformers, underground conduit pad work, switchgear, AC/DC inverters, lighting, and electrical equipment, often involving battery storage and solar generation components.
• Conduct electrical wiring (AC and DC) and handle utility interconnections from the inverter output.
• Pull and terminate conductors (up to 750MCM). Bend conduit and secure mounting structures for roofs.
• Perform installations for car chargers and battery systems.
• Operate scissor lifts, boom lifts, trenchers, and skid steers.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety at job sites, adhering to safety protocols.
• Complete all job-related documentation promptly and accurately.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with team members, supervisors, and clients.
• Display leadership and initiative by managing new projects and collaborating with roof installers.
• Train and mentor new employees and educate team members on construction implementation practices.
• Regularly participate in training sessions and maintain updated knowledge of safety standards.
• Ensure tasks are completed efficiently and provide constructive feedback.
Qualifications
Licensure and Certification
• Valid Florida Certified Electrician License (Journeyman or Master)
• NABCEP Certification preferred
• OSHA and CPR/First Aid certifications are required
• Valid driver’s license
Experience
• 4+ years of journeyperson-level electrical experience
• Skilled in handling electrical systems with PV and utility-scale experience preferred
• Knowledge of NEC and NFPA70E safety standards
• Proficient in reading schematics, AC/DC wiring, conduit bending (with up to 4” diameter), and conductor terminations
• Own necessary tools and skilled in trade tools, meters, and technology
Physical Requirements
• Lift/pull up to 50 lbs.; work at heights, on rooftops, and in confined spaces
• Perform repetitive tasks and wear a 25 lbs. tool belt
• Work in extreme conditions (heat, cold, crawl spaces)
• Reliable Personal Vehicle
• Strong communication and leadership skills for training and teamwork
• Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and quality
Compensation
The compensation range for this position is $35-40 per hour, based on experience. This position is full-time (40 hours a week), beginning each day on-site at our Gainesville office. Compensation will be reassessed based on performance after the first 90 days.
