Our client is seeking a highly innovative and experienced Lead Architect specializing in Sustainable Building Design to spearhead their forward-thinking projects. This is a fully remote position, offering the opportunity to shape environmentally conscious architectural solutions without geographical limitations. You will be responsible for leading the design process from conceptualization through to project completion, ensuring that sustainability principles are integrated into every phase. This includes developing holistic design strategies that optimize energy efficiency, resource conservation, and occupant well-being. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of green building certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM), advanced sustainable materials, passive design strategies, and renewable energy integration. Your role will involve collaborating closely with clients, engineers (MEP, structural), contractors, and sustainability consultants to ensure seamless project execution and achieve ambitious environmental goals. Responsibilities include conceptual design development, creating detailed architectural plans and specifications, conducting energy modeling analysis, and overseeing the selection of sustainable materials and systems. You will also be responsible for staying abreast of the latest advancements in sustainable architecture and construction technologies, advocating for best practices, and mentoring junior architects. This position demands exceptional design talent, strong leadership capabilities, and excellent communication skills to articulate complex design concepts and sustainable benefits to diverse stakeholders. The remote nature of this role requires a high degree of self-discipline, proactivity, and the ability to foster strong collaborative relationships within a virtual team environment. Qualifications:
Master of Architecture degree from an accredited institution. Licensed Architect in at least one US state, or eligible for reciprocal licensure. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in architectural design, with a significant focus on sustainable and green building projects. LEED AP accreditation (or equivalent) is required. Demonstrated expertise in sustainable design principles, including passive design, energy modeling, and life cycle assessment. Proficiency with architectural design software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp) and rendering tools. Experience with energy modeling software (e.g., EnergyPlus, IES VE) is highly desirable. Strong understanding of building science, materials, and construction technologies related to sustainability. Excellent leadership, project management, and team collaboration skills. Exceptional communication, presentation, and client management abilities. Proven ability to develop and execute innovative and sustainable design solutions. Experience with urban planning and landscape design that incorporates sustainability is a plus. Knowledge of net-zero energy building design principles. A strong portfolio showcasing successful sustainable architectural projects. Commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development.
