Job Description

The U.S. Green Building Council is seeking a Technical Development Intern in Noida, India, to support the LEED for Cities and Communities program. Responsibilities include technical development, research on environmental categories, and data analysis. Candidates should have a relevant bachelor's degree (or be enrolled in a master's program) and knowledge of green building systems. The position is full-time from June to July 2025.
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a global, nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., working to improve human health, sustainability, and resilience in the built environment through its programs and standards including LEED, the world’s most widely used green building rating system. Today, people in over 180 countries and territories live, work, and learn in LEED certified buildings, communities and cities that protect health, climate and natural resources and enhance quality of life.

USGBC is currently seeking an Intern to focus on supporting the development of LEED for Cities and Communities program. The candidates will use their subject matter expertise, and technical experience to work within a dynamic, high performing cross functional team to create, maintain and update LEED for Cities and Communities program in line with industry standards, global goals, and targets.

Specific Responsibilities
• Support in core technical development activities of LEED for Cities and Communities (LFC) rating system.
• Conduct research related to the different categories of LFC rating system, which focus on natural resources, water systems, waste management, transportation planning, energy management, greenhouse gas emissions, and quality of life.
• Perform qualitative research and quantitative data analysis of global standards, goals, and guidelines to support technical development work of LFC.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education & Training Requirements/Preferences
• Bachelor’s degree (enrolled in Master’s degree preferred) in a field of study related to one or more of the following specialties:
• Architecture
• Sustainable development
• Urban Planning
• Transportation
• Environmental planning
• Energy studies
• 0-3 years of work experience in the relevant fields of sustainable and green area development.
• Knowledge about green building rating systems, regional/global policy, and regulatory frameworks. Credentials such as LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to gather and analyze data from a variety of sources, identify, and articulate the key trends.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and presentation skills.
• Commitment to USGBC/GBCI missions.

Duration
• Full Time (June 2025 to July 2025)
• Location: GBCI India office, NOIDA
• Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm EST, 40 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends
