About the position
The AES Corporation is seeking an intern for the Transmission Planning department for the summer of 2025. This internship offers a unique opportunity to be part of a leading Fortune 500 company that is at the forefront of the global energy revolution. As an intern, you will be involved in various projects that contribute to the development of long-term maintenance and investment project plans, which are crucial for the capital budget. You will work under general supervision and be responsible for developing the scope, estimate, and schedule of assigned projects, which primarily include capital investments such as asset replacements, maintenance, customer growth, Smart Grid initiatives, renewable energy integration, and general operations. In this role, you will create scope of work documents, cost estimates, and schedules for assigned projects, engaging with engineering and other subject matter experts as required. You will also build the project business case using reliability, integrated system planning, and other inputs. Additionally, you will provide bid specifications to the Supply Chain in accordance with the procurement process and compile detailed work plans for the Project Management Organization, Engineering, and Operations teams to execute. The internship may also involve completing additional assignments as determined by your supervisor, providing a comprehensive learning experience in project management within the energy sector.
