Purpose of the job

The IT Digital Technologist will support the EWA Tech Lead by acting as a key technoalogy partner for the Ethiopia business. The role bridges business and technology to enable digital transformation, operational excellence, automation, and innovation. The position focuses on delivering scalable digital and IT solutions for Ethiopia while aligning with East and West Africa regional technology standards and governance.

Key responsibilities

·Provide end-to-end IT operational support for Ethiopia-based warehouses, factories, and offices, including network connectivity, hardware, software, and service management.
·Coordinate with internal and external technology partners (Cisco, Microland, HCL, Service Experience, Tech Foundation teams, and local service providers) to ensure reliable IT services and SLA compliance.
·Raise and manage Service Requests, Incidents, and Problem Management activities using the ServiceNow ITSM platform, ensuring timely resolution and escalation.
·Manage local IT service providers and third-party contracts, including renewals, quality of service monitoring, and cost control.
·Handle IT asset management activities including hardware procurement, refresh cycles, accessories ordering, asset capitalization, depreciation, and disposal in line with IT policies.
·Support and execute digital transformation initiatives across Ethiopia, including automation, AI adoption (Copilot, UNA Evolution), ERP platforms, and enterprise digital tools.
·Support factory digitization and smart manufacturing initiatives such as DFOS, BUILDAPP, and other Digital Factory solutions.
·Provide IT project management support for country-level initiatives across Commercial, Consumer, Customer Ops, Digital Business Ops, Customer Development, and Employee Experience teams.
·Support the deployment, integration, and optimization of digital platforms including forecasting tools, supply chain systems, fintech payment solutions, vendor and supplier financing platforms, and document management systems.
·Drive adoption of regional and global digital programs while ensuring effective local implementation in Ethiopia.
·Perform Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) activities for key systems supporting Ethiopia operations.

Job Requirements

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Experience
>3–5 years of experience in IT, digital transformation, automation, or related roles.
>Hands-on experience with process automation, AI initiatives, and digital platforms.
>Strong understanding of cloud technologies, ERP systems, AI, and IoT.
>Experience working in Agile, DevOps, or project/product management environments.
>Knowledge of cybersecurity, data privacy, and IT governance standards.
>Strong analytical, documentation, and presentation skills.
