Job Description

The U.S. Department of Commerce is seeking a Hydrologist to analyze water distribution, circulation, and properties. Conduct research and analysis on the distribution, circulation, and physical properties of water on Earth.
Utilize advanced hydrology principles and methods to study water systems and processes.
Collect and analyze data from various sources, including remote sensing, field surveys, and laboratory experiments.
Develop and implement models and simulations to better understand and predict water systems.
Collaborate with other scientists and researchers to advance knowledge and understanding in the field of hydrology.
Communicate research findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including government officials, policymakers, and the public.
Monitor and assess the health and sustainability of water resources, including rivers, lakes, and groundwater.
Advise on water resource management and protection strategies to promote economic growth and development.
Stay up-to-date with current research, technology, and policies related to hydrology.
Participate in conferences, seminars, and other professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Adhere to all ethical and safety standards in conducting research and handling data.
Train and mentor junior hydrologists and other team members.
Collaborate with other departments and agencies to coordinate efforts and share information.
Contribute to the development of grant proposals and funding applications.
Represent the U.S. Department of Commerce and promote its mission and values.
