High Voltage Technician

POWERTECH PTY LTD is seeking a High Voltage Technician for a role based in Darwin Municipality, NT, Australia. The position involves a combination of local, office, and fieldwork with national travel. Responsibilities include commissioning and testing HV protection systems, power generation systems, and preparing technical reports. Candidates should possess an NT Electrical Fitter and Mechanic Workers License, a valid Driver’s License, and have relevant HV/LV knowledge.

Successful candidates will need to demonstrate strong theoretical and practical knowledge.Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:Commissioning and testing HV protections systems.Commissioning and testing HV Plant.Commissioning and Testing Power Generation Systems.Protection Relay Testing.HV Primary and secondary system testing in a substation environment.Assist in preparation of commissioning/testing documentation, test plans and create detailed technical reports on completion of works.Carry out JSHAs etc. prior to commencing any new works to identify hazards and implement the necessary controls.Knowledge of HV/LV Transformer Testing (i.e. Tan Delta/Turns Ratio/SFRA/Dirana/Voltage Ratio/Winding Resistance, Oil Sampling)Desired Skills and ExperienceExperience, skills and qualifications:Unrestricted NT Electrical Fitter and Mechanic Workers License.Valid Driver’s License.HV Switching Ticket preferred.Knowledge of appropriate Australian Standards.Proven ability meeting project quality, schedule, and budget requirements.Ability to promote a high standard of safety, professionalism, and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.Powertech is an employer of choice; we know our most valuable asset is our people.
