Grid Expert

Allied Talent Partners seeks a Grid Expert to support the Energy Compact in Chad, focusing on renewable energy integration and infrastructure planning. Responsibilities include network planning, quality control of infrastructure projects, and technical specifications for procurement. The role requires an Electrical Engineer with 10+ years of experience in grid studies and fluency in French. This is a contractor position expected to start in Q2 2026 for 12 months, based in N’Djamena, Chad.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Grid Expert will support the implementation of the national Energy Compact in Chad, focusing on grid integration of new renewable generation, transmission system strengthening, and infrastructure planning. The position ensures system stability, technical feasibility of generation projects, and alignment of network development with compact targets.

MAIN DUTIES

The role involves several key technical and strategic deliverables:
• Network Planning & Least-Cost Development: Coordinate implementation of network and infrastructure planning studies, lead development of a comprehensive least-cost electricity plan, and conduct feasibility studies and preliminary designs.
• Infrastructure Implementation & Quality Control: Support implementation of network reinforcement projects, monitor execution of studies and works, carry out technical assessments and audits, and participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
• Procurement & Technical Specifications: Contribute to the preparation of technical specifications for tender documents and assist in the evaluation of technical bids.
• Monitoring, Advisory & Integration: Establish a monitoring and evaluation mechanism for infrastructure objectives and provide technical support to the High-Level Committee.

Working Arrangement
• Location: N’Djamena (Chad)
• Terms: Expected start in Q2 2026 for a 12-month contracting period with possibility of extension.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must meet strict technical and experience criteria:
• Professional Experience: Electrical Engineer specializing in network modelling and calculations with at least 10 years of experience in stability studies and grid connection. Experience in at least three power plant projects of at least 50 MWp.
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in grid modelling and simulation software and a strong understanding of transmission system planning and grid code compliance.
• Operating Environment: Experience in Africa or similar operating environments is strongly preferred, alongside experience in projects valued at US$1,000,000 or greater.
• Language Skills: Fluency in French is required; good command of English is desirable.
