NASA’s global carbon cycle research aims to explore the interconnected carbon dynamics across the atmosphere, oceans, and land using both observational data and Earth system models. The objective is to better understand and quantify carbon cycle feedbacks, reduce uncertainties in the NASA GISS Earth System Model, and provide insights into future changes—particularly regarding the behavior of terrestrial and marine carbon sinks.

Areas of Interest for Research Proposals Include:
• Investigating interactions at the land-ocean boundary
• Studying vegetation phenology and its connection to climate variability
• Quantifying carbon flux patterns and tracking how land and oceans absorb carbon

Applicant Qualifications:
