Job Description
IPE Global Limited is seeking a GIS Intern for its Climate Change and Sustainability Practice in New Delhi. The intern will assist in literature reviews, geospatial data acquisition, spatial analysis, and report development. Candidates should be pursuing or have a master's degree in GIS or related fields, with proficiency in GIS software and basic programming skills. This is a full-time position based in the office.
The Climate Change and Sustainability Practice at IPE Global has substantial experience delivering multiyear and high-impact programmes. These programmes are supported by leading donors and foundations and are implemented in partnership with coveted research institutions, civil society organisations, and public institutions. The Intern will work with a team of high-performing professionals.
Key Responsibilities
The research intern is expected to assist researchers in the team in the following:
Assist the team in conducting literature reviews and background research on GIS and remote sensing applications in climate studies.
Contribute to desk research on policy frameworks integrating GIS and remote sensing for climate change adaptation and mitigation.
Support the acquisition and preprocessing of geospatial datasets, including satellite imagery, climate models, and remote sensing data.
Assist in data cleaning, formatting, and quality assurance to ensure consistency and usability.
Apply spatial analysis techniques, including land use/land cover classification, hydrological modeling, and environmental monitoring.
Utilize GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and remote sensing tools (e.g., Google Earth Engine) for spatial analysis.
Contribute to visualization, including thematic maps, charts, and interactive dashboards.
Support the development of reports, presentations, and other research products.
Actively participate in team meetings and discussions.
Qualifications & Experience:
Educational:
Pursuing or freshly graduated masters degree in GIS, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Geoinformatics, or a related field.
Professional Attributes:
Strong understanding of GIS tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth Engine, and remote sensing softwares.
Basic programming knowledge in Python, R, or MATLAB for geospatial analysis is preferred.
Familiarity with climate data sources, including satellite imagery and climate model outputs.
Knowledge of data visualization tools for geospatial analysis.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and presentation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.,
