Job Description
Flood Communications is hiring a Fill In Anchor TV MMJ Reporter for News Channel Nebraska in Nebraska City, NE. The role involves developing multi-platform content, conducting field reporting, anchoring news broadcasts, and engaging with the community. Candidates should have a degree in Broadcast Journalism, strong writing skills, and a passion for news. This position requires working in the office and is not remote.
News Channel Nebraska is searching for a motivated News Reporter who will help develop multi-platform content for Radio, TV, and Web located in our Norfolk, Nebraska office. The News Reporter must possess strong motivation, a passion for news, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced culture where creativity thrives. The successful candidate must have solid journalistic judgment, a news philosophy that emphasizes accuracy, and a willingness to travel outside the confines of a newsroom in the effort to generate content.
Flood Communications is looking for a news professional to connect with our radio and TV audiences across the state. This person has the opportunity to serve as the go-to source for news for people in at least three different markets in Nebraska. We want someone who is eager to be the voice delivering critical information to Nebraskans. This person needs to be self-motivated, possess excellent writing skills, thrive under deadline pressure, and be enthusiastic about learning new skills.
Responsibilities
• News Reporting: Research, investigate, and report on local news stories, events, and developments that affect our community.
• On-Air Presentations: Anchor news broadcasts with professionalism and authority, delivering news stories to our viewers with clarity and credibility.
• Field Reporting: Conduct interviews, gather information, and capture video footage in the field, covering a wide range of topics including local news, community events, and human-interest stories.
• Story Writing: Write, edit, and produce news stories for broadcast, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to journalistic standards.
• Interviews: Conduct interviews with community members, local officials, and experts to provide diverse perspectives on news stories.
• Live Reporting: Cover breaking news and live events, both in the studio and on location, as needed.
• Community Engagement: Build relationships within the community, attend local events, and actively engage with viewers to understand their concerns and interests.
• Social Media: Promote news stories and engage with the audience on social media platforms to enhance the reach and impact of our news coverage.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the news team, including producers, photographers, and editors, to create high-quality news content.
• Adherence to Ethical Standards: Ensure all reporting and broadcasting adhere to ethical and legal standards, including accuracy, fairness, and copyright regulations.
• If interested, contribute to live coverage of college/high school sports on radio and TV.
Qualifications
• Degree in Broadcast Journalism preferred
• Solid journalistic judgment and a news philosophy that emphasizes accurate, fair, and unique local content, along with community engagement.
• Understanding of social media and digital platforms.
• Strong ethical standards and integrity are a must.
• Exceptional organizational skills suited for a fast-paced environment.
