Job Description
KEMRON Environmental Services, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Environmental Technician/Field Scientist for their Marietta, OH office. The role involves fieldwork including sample collection, field analysis, and equipment maintenance at various project sites, often in adverse conditions. Candidates must have an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and meet physical requirements. The position requires travel and may involve overtime or weekend work.
KEMRON Environmental Services an Employee Owned company, seeking an ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNICIAN or FIELD SCIENTIST for work managed from our Marietta, Ohio office. After completion of required KEMRON training, the majority of your time will be spent in the field and traveling to and from project sites.
Duties performed under general KEMRON supervision include collection of samples from environmental media, (including soil, water, groundwater, waste), completion of field analysis, preparation of complete field documentation, & equipment maintenance. Work includes activities on environmentally contaminated sites and may include hazardous wastes and/or chemicals. Your work will occur on diverse project sites to provide high quality service to our clients.
Physical Work Activities and Duties
Work is conducted outdoors, including during periods of inclement weather. Use of respiratory and other PPE is required. Travel, including overnight travel, is required. Overtime and/or weekend work may be required. Possible candidates must be able to complete the following.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, climb, traverse uneven land surfaces, and lift up to 50 pounds
• Working in a standing position for the majority of the field workday
• Ability to drive large pick-up truck
• Ability to use hands to operate field equipment and collect data from environmental monitoring locations
• Perform data collection and maintenance; interpret field equipment readings and data in support of data collection
• Close, distance, and peripheral vision; normal auditory function
• Must complete employment physical demonstrating ability to meet job requirements, including the ability to wear a respirator, as required
• Completion of annual or bi-annual employment physical, as required
Skills and Abilities
• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing
• Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely, including field troubleshooting
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
• Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
• Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination
• Willingness to work both as part of a team and independently, and receive and conform to instruction and training specific to job site requirements
Education, Training and Experience
• Minimum Associates degree in Environmental Science or equivalent with 2 years relevant experience. Or a Bachelors degree in Environmental Science or equivalent.
• Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software is desired.
• Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions.
Special Requirements
• Must possess and maintain valid and appropriate state driver’s license and have good driving history approved by Kemron’s insurance carrier that qualifies employee to drive company vehicles.
• Must pass pre-employment and annual physical including a drug screen.
This is a full-time position reporting to our Marietta, OH office. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Project specific needs may require after hours and weekend work, including travel.
