About the Role

The Environment Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring our plant operates in compliance with environmental regulations and laws. This involves delivering key elements of our environmental management system, including audit completion, follow-up actions, and administrative duties necessary for compliance. Additionally, the Environment Coordinator collaborates with various departments and country-level staff to advance our sustainability goals (decarbonization, circularity, water & nature, and people and communities) and develop long-term improvements, while also implementing Lafarge technical doctrines at the plant level.
Key Responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures.">
• Verify that all contracts and project sites meet Lafarge's safety policy requirements for employee safety.">
• Develop, circulate, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to control the impacts of plant activity on the environment.">
• Identify environmental hazards and propose preventative measures.">
• Develop and update an emergency and communication plan in the event of an environmental incident.">
• Implement measures to minimize, recycle, and treat waste generated by the plant.">
• Work with project stakeholders to prepare environmental documents and related technical studies.">
• Set environmental department long, medium, and short-term goals and objectives aligned with country, market, and plant objectives.">
• Manage compliance reporting requirements within the Eastern Canada Region, including internal and external regulatory reporting.">

We're looking for candidates with a strong background in Environmental Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or relevant fields. Prior experience is essential, along with proficiency in computer applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, MSProject). A good understanding of ISO standards is also required. Bilingualism (French and English) is highly valued.
