Environmental Steward QT Position

The Environmental Steward QT Position at AmeriCorps in Cedar Falls, IA involves conducting environmental education, leading outreach projects, recruiting volunteers, and enhancing energy efficiency services. Members will engage in tree planting, community gardens, and various conservation projects. The role is full-time and offers professional development opportunities. Applicants should be at least 17 years old and have some college education. The position runs from May 19, 2025, to September 1, 2025.
¿ Conducting environmental education lessons and presentations ¿ Engaging in and leading environmental outreach and community engagement projects ¿ Recruiting and engaging volunteers in service to the community ¿ Conducting residential energy efficiency services (primarily for vulnerable populations) ¿ Enhancing commercial energy efficiency projects for public buildings (LED upgrades, etc.) ¿ Developing Climate Action Plans & Greenhouse Gas Inventories for counties and organizations ¿ Developing waste reduction strategies for sites and communities ¿ Planting trees and restoring tree canopies in vital communities ¿ Engaging in water quality services (sampling, testing, river clean-ups, etc.) ¿ Engaging in additional conservation projects (prairie burns, GIS, soil restoration, etc.) ¿ Enhancing one’s own Professional Development through specific projects and trainings, tailored to their own areas of interest

Member Duties : Including but not limited to community-wide tree planting, community garden creation and support, sustainable event planning, residential weatherization of low-income homes, environmental education with audiences of all ages, recycling initiatives, high way and river clean-ups, and other activities in collaboration with the full-time members of Green Iowa AmeriCorps. Members will also complete individualized projects related to their formal education or professional interests, participate in field trips, training opportunities, and group projects.
