Environmental Science Educator

Trees For Tomorrow Natural Resources Specialty School seeks an Environmental Science Educator in Eagle River, WI. Responsibilities include teaching environmental science outdoors, coordinating adult skills programs, and guiding participants in inquiry-based learning. Environmental Science Educator Responsibilities:Teach environmental science in the forests and waters of Wisconsin’s NorthwoodsCoordinate adult skills programs as part of TFT’s Sustainable Living Institute (SLI)Present courses and special programs in a knowledgeable, stimulating, engaging, and objective mannerGuide participants of all ages and backgrounds in safe outdoor inquiry-based learning and activities.Work with education team to write and edit curriculum and assess student learningOperate all equipment related to course and program presentation.Interact with live program animals, and animal artifacts such as skulls, pelts, and other taxidermy.Other duties as assigned, including opportunities to create and coordinate programs you are passionate about!Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in field of natural resources, biology, education or related field preferred, though relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.Experience in the field(s) of outdoor education, general education, or natural sciences preferred.Familiarity with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) preferred but not requiredCurrent valid driver’s licenseProficiency in Microsoft OfficeAbility to manage a group of participants outdoors(30+ at a time).Willingness to learn and teach outdoor skills such hiking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, etc.High sense of professionalism, strong team player, positive attitudeGood organizational skills, self-motivated and willing to take initiative to learnWillingness to interact with live program animals and taxidermyAbility to walk 5 miles per day with a 10lb pack over rough terrain, and lift 25 lbs. overheadAbility to drive a 15-passenger van with a canoe trailerWillingness to obtain a Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) and drive 70-passenger bus within 6 months of employmentWillingness to work nights (2-3/week) and weekends (1-2/month)Benefits:All meals provided when working with a groupFlexible schedule and supportive team atmospherePaid professional development including travel to state and regional conferences and membership in professional environmental and education organizationsPay competitive with other environmental education centers in the regionTo Apply: email cover letter, resume, and 3 references to Jenny Sadak at jenny@treesfortomorrow.com
