Job Description
Jacobs is seeking a Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP) for the Environmental Project Leader role in Hartford, CT. The position involves leading site investigation and remediation projects for government and private clients, requiring strong planning, communication, and project management skills. Candidates should have a relevant degree and experience in environmental projects. The role includes mentoring junior team members and may require travel primarily within New England.

We are seeking a Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP) to take on exciting site investigation and remediation projects for both government and private-sector clients across various locations. This role will also contribute to major regional infrastructure and redevelopment initiatives.
The ideal candidate will possess strong planning and communication skills, as well as proven leadership in project management. You will be a key player in multi-disciplinary teams working on significant projects. This position is perfect for a self-motivated professional with several years of relevant industry experience and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
As a successful candidate, you will showcase exceptional communication abilities and relevant project management expertise, ensuring client satisfaction and positive financial performance on your projects. You will primarily focus on managing projects and mentoring junior team members, offering a fantastic opportunity for career growth.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage a project team through all phases of project planning, execution, and closeout to meet contractual scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Balance multiple projects and teams in a fast-paced environment to accommodate schedule demands.
• Advocate for safety and quality in project planning and implementation.
• Coordinate staffing, scheduling, budget management, and quality control with contractors, subcontractors, and internal staff.
• Engage in project decision-making related to technical approaches and performance metrics.
• Communicate effectively and manage conflicts within project teams and with clients.
• Serve as a primary client contact, ensuring progress and technical performance meet expectations for client satisfaction.
• Foster professional development through coaching and mentoring of team members.
• Facilitate planning, permitting, design, and reporting activities alongside staff and clients.
• Provide support to other project and program managers for delivering complex projects.
Qualifications:
• Degree in engineering, geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or a closely related field.
• Current practice as a Licensed Environmental Professional in Connecticut.
• Proven experience managing environmental projects for diverse clients, demonstrating a strong background in planning, investigation, remediation, and monitoring of impaired properties.
• Willingness to travel primarily within New England, with occasional travel outside the region.
• Experience in remediation design and construction oversight is advantageous.
• 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification with current 8-hour refreshers.
