Job Summary of

Roles and Responsibilities

POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment, and corrective action services to clients. Across multiple industries, our diverse staff specializes in air, water, waste, environmental planning, ecological, and cultural resources throughout our 45+ offices across North America.

We are seeking an Environmental Planning Intern in our Portland, Oregon or Boise, Idaho office in support of our Environmental Project Management/Planning Department. This position has the potential for a remote or hybrid work structure based on office needs.

The selected candidate would join a team of more than 300 environmental professionals across the U.S. This position would assist in environmental constraints analysis, data collection, siting, routing, and permitting of electrical infrastructure and renewable energy projects. The Environmental Planning Intern is a unique opportunity with a mixture of office and field duties including permitting analysis and support, visual assessment analysis, project constructability assessments, wetland delineation, erosion and sedimentation control specifications, and construction monitoring.

This temporary position for 8 to 12 weeks is intended to provide insights into an environmental consulting career performing siting, planning, and permitting for renewable energy and electrical infrastructure projects.
Required Education/Experience
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Masters in Environmental Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban or Regional Planning, Geography, Environmental Science or Management, Biology, or other related fields.
• Knowledge and interest in federal, state, and local environmental policy and regulation.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team and collaborative environment.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
• Knowledge and experience with Google Earth, ArcGIS, digital SLR cameras, and GPS equipment is a plus.
• Ability to do aerial imagery interpretation and understand engineering drawings and topographical maps.
• Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Salary DOE:
The pay range for this position is $21 - $25 per hour; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, 401k, etc.
