Job Description
The State of Idaho is seeking an Environmental Planner for the Idaho Transportation Department in Pocatello, ID. This role involves providing environmental support for transportation projects, working with a team of professionals, and completing necessary environmental processes for state-wide projects. The position requires occasional fieldwork and travel. Candidates should have knowledge of environmental planning and experience in data analysis and technical reporting.

The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is currently recruiting an Environmental Planner to provide environmental support for transportation projects. This position is located at our District 5 offices in Pocatello, Idaho . The incumbent in this position will work as a member of a team of environmental and engineering professionals to deliver highway, bridge, and other transportation construction projects in Idaho.
This position will focus on completing the environmental processes required to deliver and construct state-wide projects.
\Occasional fieldwork and travel will be required.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIESMaking determinations of project effect on environmentServe as technical support to the Federal Highway Administration, ITD or local government staff in environmental resource areasCoordinate with the State/Tribal Historic Preservation Office, federal agencies, tribal staff, consulting parties, private parties, contractors and consultant firms as neededCoordinate reclamation properties throughout the districtReview, recommend, author, and implement procedures, policy and guidanceReview, interpret and recommend comments on proposed rulemakingConduct compliance monitoringDevelop process improvement and/or streamlining toolsDevelop or support training and/or presentationsDevelop and negotiate interagency agreementsImplement and track performance measures and reportingManage consultant agreements and contracts as neededMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSGood knowledge of:Environmental concepts and planning techniques and impacts associated with transportation project location, design, construction and maintenanceEnvironmental design principlesMitigation methodsSome knowledge of:Engineering concepts related to environmental plansFederal regulations and statutory requirements for environmental documentationExperience:Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data Writing technical reportsPreparing and making presentations of technical findings To learn more about the department, please visit the ITD website.
